「東京工業大学理学院物理学系出身の X と申します」というタイトルのメールがきて、「 おっ、解析の質問か共同研究の提案かな」と思って開けたら、そこ出身の人が作った会社の営業メールだった。東工大は無関係。嘘はついてないし、確かに開かせる力はあるが、こういう営業は悪印象。返事せず削除。
Regarding academic recommendation letters (1, 2, 3): it is an open secret that in some countries (including Japan), many supervisors/PIs ask students/postdocs to write the draft themselves. This makes the letter non-objective and unfair with candidates with serious confidential letters.

イギリスは GDPR とかでやりすぎってくらいプライバシーのことを言うくせに、こういう法案を作るとは失望した。
